Why We Do Podcast Pre-Calls

[00:21] I want to do a little bit of an outtake for my podcast CSTM show and what I wanted to
[00:26] share with y’all is why I do podcast precall um so I’ve been doing this podcast since 20210 we’re in
[00:36] our fifth year we’re over at the time of this record 548 episodes it’s a lot of episodes woo time
[00:43] has gone and flown and I’ve learned a lot of things on the show and one of the things I’ve
[00:49] learned is if I have a new guest who I don’t know I need to do a free chat with
[00:56] them usually 15 or 20 minutes I usually book it for a half hour and just talk about find out
[01:01] what they’re like what their energies like what their synergy is like how compatible we are whether my listeners will
[01:08] like them and so on and I use it as a bit of a qualifier because if I really don’t
[01:14] like them in the chat they’re not getting on the show it’s that simple the other thing that plays out
[01:22] here is if they don’t show up for that chat they’re definitely not getting on the show and last week
[01:32] I wrote a bit of a blog post where I talked about a gentleman who I won’t name who booked
[01:39] a pre call and then didn’t show and when I sent his assistant an email she said “Oh you know he’s
[01:47] kind of busy.” And I actually sent one said “But I’m busy i run a busy agency i run a
[01:54] busy podcast i’m busy too my time’s worth something and I said to her outright “This is an absolute red
[02:03] flag and your client won’t be appearing on my show.” I think she was a little unhappy but he can’t
[02:11] be bothered to show up for the pre-show or the pre-in booking then how do I know you’re going to
[02:17] show up for the book so that’s a little bit about why I do pre-in people I don’t know once
[02:25] you’ve been on the show or you’re a friend or something else then there’s no need to do that Rob
