Good morning, Rob Cairns here. I’m the CEO and Chief Creator of Amazing ideas Stunning Digital Marketing.com. As I did this podcast, I’m working out at the SDM cave, isolated from the rest of the city, which he should be, and worried about the future of the world. Please take the time today. If you’ve got some loved ones you haven’t talked to in a while, or people in your family or circles over 65, pick up the phone, do a FaceTime. Tell them you care as some if you can help them if you can go get them, the groceries they need special fear and anger. And please make a difference in the world. Today, I’m going to run through a couple of news items COVID-19 and COVID-19 related. And then I’m going to get on to a real interesting topic about why we chose zoom as our video conferencing tool of choice. And I really think this is really important in today’s day and age with all the work at home movement started because of COVID-19. And people like myself who work from the home office. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the news.

Now it’s on to today’s news. Facebook has received an increase in 70% traffic since the COVID-19. Major outbreak started and people are basically being told to stay home. surprising that sometimes the platform has actually stayed up. And the reality of it all is it’s a little slow in some spots. Folks just be patient. It’s just the way it is right now. Both Microsoft and Google have delayed updates to their browsers to edge into Chrome because of COVID-19. So those updates will be coming later. Also be really careful of the COVID-19 phishing and scams out there. There’s a lot of people trying to take advantage of you, the listener so please watch the scams look after your money. Take care of yourself. Breaking News overnight, as I’m in Toronto, Canada, the Canadian Olympic Association has announced that we will not be attending I may not be attending this year’s Olympics in Tokyo regardless of what the rest of the world does, and whether they cancel it or not. All because of COVID-19. Unfortunately, the deaths increase. And I think it’s gonna be really rough week in North America. So please take your time. Isolate, stay away from everybody six feet in between people. No playdates no coffee dates, no nothing. Please take care of you and your loved ones. COVID-19 is real. Don’t be on the beaches of California or Florida. And do you have to do to protect yourself and your families. Now, on to this week’s podcast. Al Robert Cairns here, this week’s podcast I want to talk about something that’s really important and timely. And that’s what video conferencing tool you choose. In our agency at stunning digital marketing, we have chosen zoom. And we’ve been using zoom probably for two or three years. And there’s a number of reasons why which I’ll get into. Before we use them. I’ll give you a little bit of history, we actually use Skype for video conferencing with clients and potential clients. And Skype has been along for a long, long time. I frankly stopped the Skype ID but I don’t know when the last time I logged into it was. And the reality is I find spike. Sorry, Skype really buggy. At times it cuts in it cuts out. If you want to do recording, you have to put an add on in or get an add on program. And that makes it a little harder to use. Let’s jump on over to zoom. So when I started looking a couple years ago in apps, I looked at zoom and zoom was at that point was an up and comer. Zoom does a lot of things really well. First of all, it’s easy to get somebody who’s never used it to use it it. The first time you use it fires up an external app. The app runs automatically when you click on a zoom meeting. So that’s really easy. It integrates really well with Google calendar or G Suite. I use G Suite and I use the Zoom extension so I can go into any calendar item and say make it a zoom meeting my own Automated booking system, which is at 10. Days calm, automatically interfaces with zoom because I set it up that way. And it emails the client back a zoom link, absolutely love it. And by the way that’s available in the free versions of both products, you don’t have to have the paid version. The other thing zoom does really well is recording. I’ve used it for recording podcast interviews for client coaching sessions for meetings. And then I can give the client the audio and the video recording without even having to create the audio version soon gives me both once a download the recording. Isn’t that awesome? The Price Is Right. It’s inexpensive, it’s stable. I used it last night with my friend Todd Jones, shout out to Todd, we did a quick check in brainstorming chat on a Sunday evening, just to keep you know, social distancing, and we’re across the continent anyway. And have a chatter amongst friends. And the quality even in all this stuff times with COVID-19 is really great.

You can use the free version for one to one unlimited. Anything over three people, they time it to 45 minute meetings, but then you can pay for it. So go and get zoom. To me it’s one of the best conferencing products in your toolbox. Many other companies like WebEx or go to my meeting, or even Google Hangouts, but I’ll tell you why. Zoom is the way to go. And by the way, you can share your screen and zoom very easily with anybody. You click on the share screen button, they’ll let you share screen it records all that couldn’t be any easier. Frankly, the price is right. The support is right. I’ve never had to use zoom support. And it runs great.
