Rob here! In today’s podcast, I wanted to talk about 10 lessons learned from doing over 500 podcasts. You know, it’s funny. When I started the SDM show, I never thought we’d get there and here we are. So, the first lesson is podcasting takes time. It takes a lot of time and a lot of effort. to do a podcast and do it well. The second lesson is consistency makers. I put out two to three shows every week, generally on a Monday, a Tuesday, and a Thursday or Friday without failure. So that’s consistency matters. The third point is you should have a lot of emotion in your podcasts and being real matters. So one of the things I did if you go back and listen to episode 497 is I showed a lot of emotion in that podcast and I actually dedicated that show to Tiz Marrone and Tiz and I have been through a lot this year so I showed a lot of emotion. The next point is video matters. There’s no point even if it’s just me talking or doing an audio only show. You get a better feel for who I am as a host. if uh you do video. Moving on. Uh record ahead. So I generally don’t like to record and drop in the same day. I’ve done it if something’s timely, but I generally record ahead. So right now at the time just record, I have two or three shows already ahead of time. Batch edit and produce. So when I sit down to do producing of shows, I batch edit. Meaning I do more than one show at the same time. It just makes it easy. Moving on, keep learning. With the podcast, I always learn new ways of doing things and how to do things. Um, learn from others is my next point. If you sit down and you learn from other podcasters, other people’s way of doing things, that’s great. And then the last thing on my list is uh pre-record your ad spots. and your dedication to anything else. So, in my podcast, I have a dedication that’s to my dad, to my mom, and to Tis Moroni that is pre-recorded. I just drop it in. I also have an ad spot for my agency at the front end and the back end of the podcast, and those are pre-recorded. So, when I produce it, I just drop those in. And last, but not least, have fun doing the show. Enjoy what you’re doing. And a bonus tip outside of the top 10 is best thing about podcasting is I get my guest to do a free master class with me for whatever I want to talk about and you can learn and grow from that. So that’s it for now. 10 lessons learned from over a 100 podcast after I tell everybody. Bye for now.
