Episode 35: Work to Live NOT Live to Work

00:12

As a bit of an intro to this episode today, I hope you know how to shorten Intro music. I felt running Intro Music for 37 seconds was a little long, I’ve now shortened it down to about 10 seconds, so it should be better. I’m still working on all the oldest show notes. Hopefully time permitting, they’ll be done soon. I’ll take you all as soon as possible. In other show notes for the future, wait and listen for an amazing interview, which will be released this Saturday. This is special on copywriting. I’m sure you won’t want to miss this one and my amazing guest as it comes with a special offer. Now, on today’s show. Hi, I’m Rob Cairns, CEO and Chief creator of mazing ideas this stunning digital marketing.com. In my last podcast, I talked about some life changing events that have shaped my life. Hey, I want to expand on one of them. In my last episode, one of the things I talked about was really hard for a large, strong hospital. I worked many weeks of 75 plus hours, the employer, my employer did not appreciate it. I was living to work. The reality is the time was that I was working watch. I’m looking after my son is a single dad, I was lucky enough to have the help from my parents worked a lot and frankly did not have much time for anything. It no time for relationship, friends life, or anything else. It actually got to the point where it really hurt would come home exhausted spend time with my son and crash. This was an ongoing process. It was really just existing and working way too hard. I should also add, I was on call all the time as well. Don’t get me wrong, hard work is in my blood. But this was ridiculous. It was really just existed. When I was let go on March 27 2010, I felt like a big burden was lifted off my shoulders. I was out of the mess. And I could now take some time for me and my family was a huge sigh of relief. At the time I was helping my dad who was dealing with pancreatic cancer. I was able to spend time with him and my family. I knew it was going to lose him. But it was able to be there for the day after Father’s Day in 2010. My dad entered the hospital for the last time was that his bedside eight hours a day, seven days a week till he passed away until it was hard. But this was my father. And this was more important than anything. Fast forward to today. I’m married, run an agency, work someone we can split. If I do. I take another day after a week. When my wife Joe comes home from work, I generally stop what I’m doing. There’s no point in being in a relationship or marriage. You want to spend time and work on that every day. You have more time for my friends and my family. My left day is much better enjoyable than it was nine years ago. This is really a good thing. I’m enjoying my life much more these days is much better. And I’m working to live. I’m at the point where I even choose which coin to want and which ones I do not want. I want to work in partnerships, not a dictatorship. This just does not work for me. Again, it’s all about balance. The entire discussion is about work life balance. Try some of these ideas out. Spend more time with your friends, your families, your partner and your life will get much better instantly. Trust me. Try them out today. As always, thanks for listening. I know love you off.
