Episode 471 Charge What Your Worth

Show Summary

Rob Cairns talks for a couple of minutes about charging what you are worth.

Show Notes

Here by Rob here again. So today I want to talk about charging what you’re worth not. Change or by the hour. And kind of one of the places we do ourselves with the services and the WordPress design space, everybody’s trying not to let everybody and it’s to race to the bottom. As Robert Bloom  says in this book The Inside Advantage

that’s a disaster waiting to happen. So let me give you an example. I don’t have much here. I walk into the barbershop, I’m in a Barber chair. Usually about 10 to 15 minutes and my Barber says to me that will be $32 please plus whatever the tip is. So I’m out of there for about 40 bucks for 12 minutes of work. Now, if I was paying by the hour, that’s the problem. But if I’m paying for my Barbara’s expertise to get my hair right, to get it done the way I want to get it sorted out, get the top of my head sorted out. That’s not a bad thing, because that’s what I’m paying for is that expertise, so. This quick tip is very simple. It’s honestly we need to stop doing this and as people who are entrepreneurs and self-employed, we’ve also gotta keep the lights on. We gotta buy tools, we gotta buy software. We. Gotta. Support ourselves, so you need to start charging what you’re worth, not what you think that you should be charging. Rob Cairns.
