Show Notes
Hey everybody, Rob here again. In today’s podcast, I want to revisit the topic of backups and protecting your business, especially in light of the massive Hurricane Milton that went to the US this past week. So if you look at that, it decimated areas and the problem is many people take backups and what do they do? They store the backup drive next to the computer and they store their backups at. Home. Where would that have got? If their house was leveled in a hurricane or a tornado? Nowhere. So what we gotta do is make sure we do a proper backup strategy. So what I do? I back up my. Backups to an external hard drive, first of all, and I store that drive. 50 miles away at a friend’s house, Matt helps number one, so I’ve got non sight back at way away from where I live. So there’s an oil leak or fire or something. It’s not just me, #2. I keep a copy of backups using a cloud service in the cloud and encrypt it. So I’ve got 2 copies in two different places plus the original. That’s the proper way to do backups. Storing backups next to your computer. It’s OK if the file is deleted, but if you have a disaster, that’s not going to help save your business, your house, your photos that you can’t replace. But think about that really hard. Quickly and how you do it, you really need to think this one out, folks, and that hurricane should be a reminder and natural disasters should be reminder. So protect yourself, store your backups properly, use a couple of different methods. I would use a cloud and external drive and store the external. Drive way away from where you live, and then you’ll be protected.
