Hey everybody, Rob Cairns here. This podcast I’m really wanna talk about. Did you turn WordPress automatic updates on or off? And. It’s even converted even more now that automatic has rolled into a rollback feature into WordPress, so that supposedly if an update fails, you can just rollback. I personally have taken the approach that you should turn WordPress automated updates off. And the reasons are as follows. ID don’t like shooting darts at the DART board and just hoping it works. I like to have all my ducks in a row. I manage over 300 websites for autumn for WordPress updates and every case they’re turned off. So what I do is. I take it back before. I do an update and I’m not relying on my host backups. These are site level backups and I’ve talked about this in the podcast and maybe down the road I should do another podcast just talking about backups. And once I take that back up. Then what I do is I do the updates if I have an issue with the site and I do check them. Then I can rollback the backed up and then figure out and that’s not an issue. But that way I am in control. I know exactly what’s going on now it’s going. On. And what’s happening? If I turn automated updates on the update screen pipe out in the middle? Of the. Night. If I have an e-commerce site in the store thumbs up, what happens if I have a site that generate leads and it comes down and I know we’ve we’re gonna argue and say well, with him that’s that’s not mission critical. So they turn them on. And I would argue no, you want to be in control. If you’re in business, you probably, as a business owner, don’t have the time to do the updates yourselves anyway, so somebody having a security professional in your back pocket in case something goes wrong is a good idea. And one thing our digital concierge does is we offer WordPress update services for either individual site owners or even more so or other agencies who want to outsource their updates, so. This I don’t have time. And I don’t wanna hire somebody. Then you gotta do one or the other. Don’t shoot darts at a dartboard blindfolded. Don’t turn WordPress updates. On. That’s why I don’t like doing it. I like to be in control. I like to have some semblance. And if I can help you shoot me an e-mail via IP at stunning digitalmarketing.com be glad to get back to you and give you a hand with your update issues. Have a great day. Bye bye for now.
