Show Notes

Hey everybody, Rob Cairns here again.

In today’s podcast, I’m going to talk about some learning hacks, one which I’ve shared countless times on this podcast and a couple new ones.

So let’s start with real quickly. The one I’ve shared. I always say if you want to learn more, read more books. So stop watching TV for 1/2 hour.

A day and read a book.

It’s really that simple.

So the more that you read, the more smarter you’ll be, and I’m an avid reader and I read every night for 1/2 hour to an hour pretty well.

So that kind of puts me in a different spot, and if I do that, I read a book every week, week and a half, so I’m somewhere between.

40 and 50 books a year.

So read more books.

That’s the first step.

Number two when you’re learning, learn from different sources.

We all get pigeonholed.

One more learning about anything, and we find our favorite people and the problem with that is we learn the context of how those people speak, how they talk, and how they function.

Don’t do that.

If you’re gonna learn and let’s take a topic of productivity.

Then let’s find three or four different ways, or different authors, and let’s read some different POV’s and that way you’ll learn better.

#3 find out what learning medium.

Works the best for you.

And for some people, that’s in class seminars.

For some people, that’s online learning.

For me it’s a combination of online learning, podcasts and reading.

And that’s what works well for me.

So find what works for you.

Number four and you’re gonna laugh at this one.

Start a podcast.

And you say why start a podcast?

Well, the best thing about doing a podcast is secret hack here.

I have a guest where I’m asking.

Do and I’m asking questions from my audience.

No question about that, but I’m also learning.

It’s almost like a private master class.

As you do.

Do it.

And #5.

Don’t become a professional learner learn.

And implement so by that I mean if you take a week course implement two or three things soon after taking the course.

If you read a book, implement something.

If you watch a video, learn from that video and implement one of their techniques in that video.

I hope these five things help you become a better learner ’cause they should help me along the way.
