Show Notes

Hey everybody, Rob here again. In today’s podcast, I really want to talk about why you need to clean your e-mail list. And share with you a bit of a case study. Now recently I had a client who had an e-mail list of ohh about 2300. The reality was the client hadn’t emailed out their list in probably a year and a half to two years. So what happens is e-mail addresses get stalled, bounce rates go up, and all this impacts the deliverability of your. Newsletter or any emails you’re trying to send out, clients and prospective clients. Not a good idea. And I tried to send this list and at the time we were using male poet and male poet blocked it and said you’ve got issues with the list. So what could we do? We took those emails and we ran them through a list cleaning service that basically checks to see which ones are balanced and which ones can be delivered to. We went from a list of about 2200 to just under 1000. Then we talked to male poet. They reinstalled the sending capabilities for that list, and we resent a new newsletter. Well, after we clean the list, we ended up, believe it or not, with an open rate of 49% and that’s incredible. So we tell newsletter. So. What happened here? First of all, lists get stale, so we need to clean them up on a regular basis. That can have all e-mail addresses get bad. We all know that people change, they get rid of, they move on, they change companies, and so on. So running it through all this cleaning service cleaned up. All the deliverability problems of the list. And the reason you care about those deliverability problems is because if your list doesn’t deliver really well, they tend to end up in spam, and that’s the last thing we want anyway. And frankly, if there’s 1100 people on the list who aren’t engaging with you, it doesn’t matter whether they get your emails or not. So you’re better off cleaning your list and you’re better off if the list goes stale. To clean that list now, as you e-mail that list on a regular basis. Then the list will keep up to date and the bouncers won’t be hard, and the deliver buildings and then you can remove those as you. Go. So that’s a good case study on why you need to use an e-mail list cleaning service and if you need any help doing that, reach out. Be glad to help you Rob Karens she’s getting those strategists. Running digital marketing, talking about e-mail list cleaning bye for now.
