A Week of WordPress Updates

This week was a rough week for security updates for WordPress.

I want to share a bit of how I deal with updates in our agency and how this helped us this past week.

First off I did not know that WordPress 6.9.2 was coming out. This is unsual.

It had major security fixes in it which means it has to be deployed sonner or later.

The good news is I normally do updates the day the updates come out but I always wait 5 hours.

Why do I do this? In case there are issues kicking around.

This time it saved us.

WordPress 6.9.2 had issues where a white screen was coming up on some sites. The release team pulled back the release.

I found out by talking to my friend Ryan and doing some Internet and Social Media Searches.

WordPress 6.9.3 came out later in the day. It had fixes for the issues that happened in version 6.9.2 plus all the new security fixes.

Wednesday morning I was scanning social media and the office WordPress X count mentions that WordPress 6.9.4 has been released to fix security problems in version 6.9.3 .

After waiting 5 hours and checking I deployed the update to all the sites that I support.

What really helped is that we always wait 5 hours after an update comes out before we deploy it.

It also helps to have the right network of people out of the digital world and in the digital world to network and communicate with. Relationships always matter.

The other thing worth mentioning is to always doa backup before you do any major updates.

If I was a business owner, I would say how do I get this done for me. This is a lot of work!

Stunning Digital Marketing does offer Security Care Plans for WordPress and we are very affordable.
