Robert first chose the domain name rbcconsulting.com . This seemed ok as rbc are Robert’s initials in his name. This was a common trend with many companies at the time that was family owned. The problem with this domain name as it did not reflect what the company did. Also, it would be hard to sell the company as the domain name is tied directly to Robert Cairns.
After two years, Robert decided to change the domain name for his company to robertbcairns.com . This domain sounds a little better but is not much better. It is still tied directly to Robert by name. It also still does not reflect what the business does.
3 years ago Robert rebranded his company for the third time. This time he chose the domain name stunningdigitalmarketing.com . This is the domain name that made the most sense. Finally, a domain name that will stay for a long time. This domain reflects what the business does – marketing. It is not tied to Robert directly by name so it can be sold or merged anytime. A much better choice.
When choosing a domain name, take the time to do it right the first time. This will save a lot of time and issues in the long run.
